BitJazz releases Sheer Video codec for Intel Macs

  1. BitJazz has finally updated the Sheer Video Codec to universal binary for the Intel Mac users. This lossless compression codec is especially useful in older machines which don't have the processing power for uncompressed HD. It's cross platform (meaning Windows and Mac) and is great for archiving HD projects at about half the size of uncompressed HD 4:4:4 files.

Animation guys love this codec for the low processor load lossless RGB rendering ability. I've been using for the last 2 years but stopped when it had problems with FCP and intel macs. Now that's history.

  2. Thanks for the heads up Drew. But even at half the size of uncompressed HD, the files must be huge. For the amount I'm archiving, storage requirements would be impractical and expensive.

What are you doing for storage of this stuff Drew, or are you not archiving much?
