my SB-105 was flooded at the first dive of the trip, the head of the strobe exploded, my question is what strobe do you recommend with my current setup? am interested of getting the Inon but i dont know if it has sync cord like the nikos pin. help is much appreciated. thanks!

Hi Diver-
The Inon strobes are very good, and will have no problems connecting to your Nikonos bulk-head.
Not raelly sure on this one, BUT, I think that the sync cord that you have is interchangeable with the Inons.
Of course you realize that the strobe will be manual only, but has 13 settings. Make sure that you order one of the Inons that are 'hard-wired' and not fibre optic only!

hello Bruce! thanks for the advice. did check the Inon website and found an adapter for the nikonos. i have decided to get the Inon strobe. thanks for the advice and reply.

Neil,
You don't need an adapter to use Inon with Patima housing. What you need is a new Sea&sea 5p cable & Nikonos cable cannot be used with Inon strobe.

hi sam!
if i'll get the sea and sea 5 pin cable it will be in manual mode when i use the Inon strobe right? for Inon they have this optical converter that has 5 pin type connector that can be attached to the Patima housing and get another optical cable going to the Inon strobe. so shooting will be on TTL mode, that's what i udnerstand yesterday when i visited the Inon site. what do you think? thanks for the reply.

Neil,
Depends on which Inon strobe you get, you can use S-TTL (Z-240) using S&S 5p cable however, it is NOT true TTL control by camera.
I cheked InonAmerica site to see optical converter but, could not find it support Olympus TTL (When it say it support TTL, it means old
Nikonos TTL. Digital cameras using different TTL signal & is called i-TTL,E-TTL & oly has its own TTL.)
If you really want TRUE ttl, only known option is use Athena Oly TTL converter & it's cable. You can find info from;
yes you are right on the Inon optical converter, i have e-mailed Athena (you are good on informations re Olympus) for some queries on the port on the housing (bulkhead if am correct) by then i can decided if i will get the product. i am also considering getting the Inon Z-240 strobe with the S&S 5 pin as your advice. I want to get back diving and start shooting again, many thanks on this reply. more power to you!
