  1. Hi All,

Is there anyone in the forum who knows where i can buy a Nikonos 5 pin plug as shown in the picture without a cable, so i can attach any length of cable myself. Preferably in Europe but if it's nescessary i can also order overseas. If they are not for sale at all, maybe there is anyone in the forum who can advise me on how to open a S&S sync cord N and replace the cable with my own cable.

    cheers, udo

Both Subtronic and Subal will sell you the Nikonos plug unmounted. Cameras Underwater will sell you the Ikelite style Nikonos plug. I routinely use Subtronic service [do the soldering and mounting myself, never had a problem], price is right and good service.

    Hope this helps.

    cheers

  3. I'm guessing now, but i think this may be for a polecam... Do you know that ikelite make or used to make extra long cables flash cables? Maybe add an Ikelite bulkhead and use their cable?

Jep indeed, but i want to use only the 5 pin Nikonos socket on my housing that will be internally wired to my D200 with the Nikon MC-22 remote cable. So on the strobe side of the external cable i'll have to attach some buttons for focus/release. And for that i want to have a +3 m cable. Anyway, i don't know whether Ikelite makes them, but if i can do it myself to have to ask them to.

I'll try to contact a Subtronic dealer here in the Netherlands who might want to sell me one of those connectors. I found the Ikelite style Nikonos plug last night at Cameras Underwater as well, so that alos will be an option

thanks everyone, as soon as a got my polecam working i'll post something in the DIY forum.

    cheers, Udo

Subtronic can also sell you the 5 conductor 60cm spiral cable [extensible to around 3 meters] or just a plain 5 conductor cable with whatever lenght. Using they +- the same set-up for my polecam, i.e. remote wired via 1 of the nikonos sockets in the housing to a mc-30 and I also use the 10pin nikon plug to provide power to the iTTL converter at the same time. I think the MC-30 is a better solution than the MC-22. BH has a much cheaper version of the MC-30 from an external supplier...
