Hello, I am somewhat new to diving and completely new to underwater photography. After my recent dive trip to Hawaii I was extremely disappointed in the quality of pictures taken by one of the sea life beginner film cameras and am now looking to buy a new camera for underwater and above water use before my trip to Cozumel in April.
I have look around and found that the Canon A710 IS has a lot of the features which i would look for in an above water camera ( descent 6x optical zoom, 80-800 ISO, and image stabilizing) for a good price (About $300 and $350 or so for the ikelite casing) but I have not been able to find any reviews of it from an underwater photography standpoint. I know that is does not support RAW, but i was wondering how important of a feature that was and also I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on other cameras I may want to look into. I have been told by people who are experienced in photography to try and stay with a canon or nikon but many of the posts I have read on this site have recommended Fuji and Olympus. Any information would be very helpful and I thank you in advance
