I've read a few posts and reviews about the digital underwater point and shoots. Mostly the sentiment has been to get a decent land point and shoot with a housing.
I've compared most possibilities (Canons/Nikons/SeaLife/Sea&Sea...). One of my highest priorities is fully manual exposure capability, and the only camera that I've found can do this is the Equinox SeaPix (B&H).
I'm concerned that the housing is charcoal with no apparent window for the flash or viewfinder. I'm hoping this isn't the case, but I can't find any pictures to prove otherwise.
But there are no reviews or posts to be found. Has anyone actually seen this camera? Are there any severe drawbacks I should know about?
I'm a decent land photographer looking to do some recreational aquatic shooting. It's not a pursuit worth spending more than $500 on- yet. If the point and shoot pans out I'll probably pick up a D200 and housing, but not yet.
I'm looking for something with an okay onboard flash, manual exposure control, and no major technical drawbacks.
Thanks!
