  2. The Tokina 10-17 seem to be gathering quite a following, the 12-24 from Tokina is not very popular u/w, most of the 12-24 are the Nikon ones, I suspect zoom gear availabillity might the reason as that can be an issue with many manufacturer of housing.

Most popular wide lenses requested for Nikon body right now seem to be

    Nikon 12-24

    Sigma 10-20

    Tokina 10-17

and the ever popular 10.5 fisheye from Nikon

  3. HI Larry,

What do you want to take pictures of ??? I love my 12/24mm Nikon, if you go

for W/A you will want a zoom gear which do cost a few quid. How long have you

been taken A/W images & how have you got on with what you have got? Do you

use/ have strobes? Sorry for the questions

    Andy :):P

  4. I'd look at a 105 Macro. You can pick up a used non-VR one for well under $600. You have your wide-angle covered with the 15mm FE. Both the 10-17 and 12-24 would somewhat overlap or be close to the FOV of the 15. The 15, 60 and 105 would be a very versatile kit.

  5. most of my pictures are underwater, wide angle reef shots, sharks, turtles, ect., I have two ikelite ds125 strobs, I have been using the Nikonis 5 for around 12 years, and digital for two years, I will be putting it in a ikelite housing.

  6. HI Larry,

Sorry to sound you out, so you have been taking images for a few years,

all of the points are sound. I did go from the 60mm micro to 12/24mm W/A,

then to a 105mm micro, the only problem I have is now i would like the 10.5mm

F/E but that also means that I need a larger dome port more expense :(:(

    Andy :rolleyes::ninja:

  7. If you are mostly into wide angle photography, I would get the Nikkor 10.5 FE.

    /c

  8. yep, i suggest 10.5 too

  9. What do you want to shoot? If you are into macro more than wide angle go for the 105. If you are wanting to get drop dead awesome wide angle go for the 10.5. If you want to take a medium to wide for "unknown" get what you see shots go for the Nikon 12-24. If you go wide, get a 8 inch port if you can swing it. I had to hooker my wife one night to get the port. It was worth it.
