Big Sur Coast and Carmel Bay

  1. Good diving again this past weekend in central California. We got in a very nice deep dive off of Yankee Point at a spot we call Mt. Chamberlin which features a really incredible 500 foot long, 100 foot high vertical wall that's just covered with life. The sponges in particular are really pretty. After a leisurely surface interval we followed that up with a shallower dive at Outer Butterfly House which has some of the best hydrocoral formations in the area.

  2. I love that kind of diving...it is so serene and awe-inspiring. Thanks for giving me a diving nudge. I have been unparticipative in Wetpixel for 6-8 months due to the end of graduate school, and that includes diving. I think I better get recertified.

    Nice work.

  3. Ya Joe, I'm sure you forgot how to dive. I once did a 4 day trip on the Vision to the Big Sur coast. The ocean was flat as glass for the trip and the diving terrific. On the other hand I did another 4 day Big Sur trip on the Vision that ended up at San Clemente.
