Hi Walter
Hope you find it works okay for you and let us know how you go.
Well for underwater the most important things are, CC, mutliformats and slow mo and it does that very well indeed with HDV and all in real time. Open up a HDV or DV timeline and edit whatever in whatever and just encode it out...funny and so so easy. I read on other boards folks having so much trouble encoding out this and that but not with Procoder Express or Procoder....
It does not slow down when working on huge projects like Prem Pro does and there is non of that stupid AUDIO CONFORMING stuff happening. The preview is full res and not scaled down so what you see is the real thing and it's rock solid.
Keyframing stuff around is abit strange at first but it sounds like this will improve with later versions. The trimmer widow needs some work on it with the zoom in thingy but you can trim clips in the timeline as well usings many different cool methods. There are tons of tansistion effects which are all keyframable if you are into that. You can save clips with an ALPHA channel, like have video playing inside large text and you can easily upconvet DV to HDV.
For easy text effects and more there is ProDAD as a cool plugin.
There is Boris as well.
If you want to be real creative then use After Effects, then encode it out and into EDIUS as Canopus HQ or whatever.
The quality of rendered out m2t clips is faster and better than what you get with prem Pro and Aspect HD and there is no banding with open water HDV or dirty water shots after CC has been added. Add some CC to an open water shot and render it out to see what I mean with Prem Pro. It can convert the HDV material in realtime to Canopus HQ codec easier than what Aspect HD can with a simple 3 GIG PC.
It's not for everyone but when I go back to the other computer with prem pro on I got WTF
.
There are some real interesting things to come in future versions as well and there will be AC3 encoding with procoder express no doubt as Procoder 3 has it now for you NTSC folks. There is a plugin already to edit the new AVCHD format.
Those that have tried it or are using it, tell us your thoughts?
