  2. Gary,

That lens seems absolutely perfect for general shooting. Really enjoy seeing what you do with it day to day.

I also think it is the ideal lens for diving photo-journalists - reporting on trips etc - where they can get in the water and shoot what happens.

I am getting mine on Wednesday - we have a special local show with cheap prices!

    Alex

  3. Thanks Alex,

It's a great lens, I think being able to focus so close is what makes it so universal.

  4. How cheap ?

  5. Like Alex said, that is a great lens to take on a dive if you really don't know what you want to shoot. Nice piccies too.

  6. Joe and Alex,

I have a Tokina 10-17mm for my Canon dSLR and will be shooting it next week in Florda. So far (shooting on the surface) it seems as sharp as the Sigma 15mm and / or Canon 15mm. As you zoom from 10mm, which gives a true "fisheye" effect on cropped sensor cameras, it "seems" to become less "fishy".

See quick test shots below of one of our domestic critters

I'm really looking forward to making this as Alex states my one main "go to" lens.....

P.S. - I got one for $523.00 plus shipping (total about $545.00) from Roberts Imaging in Indianapolis, Indiana. Best price I found....

  7. I think you did a good job getting down under the turtle as it was swimming, so you were able to get the reflection back from the surface. Happy photraphers are made by friendly turtles Great job.

  8. csb,

yes it's not to often I get a turtle that is willing to stay at the surface while I stick a camera in its face. Unfortunately the surface was fairly choppy, on a calm day the reflections can be complete, which looks great.
