Tokina 10-17mm

  1. Anyone using the Tokina 10-17mm with a Subal ND2 housing? if so what port are you using and extention ring if any, also has Subal added the info on this lens to there web site anywhere? Thx

  2. You'll want to use the FE-2 dome port. I test fit the lens in the Subal D2x housing with a 15mm extension ring and did not have any vignetting. This smalll extension puts the lens in about the same position relative to the front of the dome as the 10.5 and the 16. The canon 16-35 zoom gear just about fits over the barrel of the lens. I have yet to dive this setup, hopefully will get in soon!

DavidG had the Tokina lens in a Subal ND20/FE-2 dome port shooting the manatee here a month ago. He showed it to shchae and myself and it was very slick and worked very well for him. Ryan at ReefPhoto has put together a zoom gear for it, you use the knob on the housing for the 10mm to 17mm settings. Yes there was also an extension ring involved.

David said the 10-17 focused really fast and he liked it overall (but I think he said he still wanted to play with it more to really say for sure).

I'm going to get one too!! But maybe not till next manatee season, we will see what kind of shooting I do till then.

    Best, Carol
