One DS-125 or Two YS-27DX? Poll

Hi, my old DS-50 broke and looking for a new lighting setup. I have a Canon Rebel XTI setup and looking to purchase either a single strobe DS-125 kit or the dual strobe YS-27dx setup, or, maybe a dual strobe YS-110 setup. I want to spend sub $1000 USD. I wanted to see what the general opinion was on the setup. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

What housing do you use?

The YS-27 i THINK only has fibre optic sync options, which for me would rule it out.

I think if you already have arm components and sync cords for the Ikelite then it might be worth sticking with them, if you shop around you might be able to get a DS-51 and a DS125 for about a thousand.

The YS110 - i haven't seen any reports on this strobe, so it is an unknown for me. Looks good though, remember there are INON strobes around the 500 dollar mark too.

Were you happy using/recharging AA batteries for the DS50? I think the DS125 is the only one in that price range with an integrated battery pack. If you are going to have to buy a lot of rechargeable AA batteries and a charger for the YS110's, then 2 new stobe cables and new arms then you should account for that in your budget too. In the end it might be cheaper to get 2 DS-125's

Ya, the AA batteries did suck, but i got rechargeable, so it wasn't so bad. But then again, my buddy had the ds125, ran out of juice and had no other options. At least i can pick up AA anywhere.

I didn't read the part about the YS-27 having only fiber optic sync cord. THANK YOU for pointing that out! I guess now the choice is between DS-125 and YS-110. I'm looking into the INON options. If you have any suggestions, i'm open to INON as well. Thank you!
