Need ID on black and white Nudibranch

  1. I ‘m looking for an identification on what I would assume is a nudibranch. I was able to photograph it in about 40 feet of water in the Dominican Republic. Common names as well as scientific would be appreciated.

Since it wasn’t moving very fast and didn’t have any gills protruding from its’ body I had a hard time telling which end was which, so I hope I got a head shot and not a butt shot. :):o

    Thanks for your suggestions.

  3. Thanks Marli,

    "Black and White Lumpy Bumpy"....

...Never in a million years could I have ever figured that name out. :):o

  4. "Lumpy Bumpy" was the term I came up with on a PNG trip, as everyone knew I wanted to see nudibranchs, and I hadn't adjusted my mindset (and eyes) to how small many Indo-Pacific species are, compared to here in British Columbia. People would come over, all excited to show me one Phyllidid after another. When asked why I wasn't so excited about their nudibranch find, I would reply, "That's just a boring lumpy bumpy!" After that, when I'd ask if anyone had seen any nudis, they'd reply, "Just Lumpy Bumpies!"

Seems that on another forum, the name has taken hold.

    Cheers,

    Marli
