Hi Joe -
It might look better as a B/W...try desaturating image.. there are various ways to do this...Scott Kelby's books on PS are pretty good and explain several techniques to convert pictures to B/W.

The red channel is non-existant (as expected from an available light image) and the blue channel is un-usable because the image is over exposed. The only usable channel is green.
Inless you can bring the exposure down in the darkroom (I've never used film so I have no idea how or if you could do this) all you can do make a black and white using just the green channel.
In photoshop use the channel mixer (image/adjust/channel mixer). Change the red and blue channels to (R=0, G=100, B=0)

Hmmm blue channel overexposed(shows you what I know). I have some other exposures let me look at them and maby I can find a darker exposure. I will try the move you suggested on this shot in PSE
Thanks

The last picture displays slightly larger, but it looks not better.
The other B&W images look quite clean, the last one looks very noisy and oversharpened. Maybe the last step to increase contrast and sharpening was too much
