I have a guest here at the moment who has the new Amphibico Evo with the screen on the back. Its a great little unit i must say. The screen is quite large and bright and has great definition. I think it is a very nice product to streamline one of these housings, rather than putting on a large external viewer.
However, we seem to have a problem getting the screen info up on the display. He is using the HDR SR1, the display is on on the camera screen itself but won't come up on the monitor.
Am i missing a simple menu switch somewhere that needs to be set for external viewer?
We discussed it in case of an external monitor earlier in connection with a Z1. I hope it will help in this case also. So, turn off the marker signs in the camera menu (no action safe, no central, no 4:3 marker). After this operation, the camera functions should be visible on the external screen.

On the camera:
Set the display output to v-out/panel this will give the neccessary info on the display.
Might a good idea to set the TV type to 4.3
This will give them a true widescreen output on the monitor.
thanks Peter, that was it. slightly different menu but the V-out was the ticket

How's it feel to look at that monitor on the back (it's flat right? not tilted up?).
its good, nice and easy to tell you the truth. I used to have the same on my L&M Mako housing for the PC100. But the EVO screen is WAY bigger and very easy to see. Could use a rubber shade though
Thank Mike...
Just looking at the amphibico website. Didn't realize that the rear display is tillted up 10 deg.
I'd be curious to hear how the auto WB handles on the SR1 underwater...
Hi Mike Veitch....
I'm at Tawali at the moment and have met a very nice couple from Columbia/Peru Fernando and Claudia.
Last year Claudia attended your stills classes in Yap and Fernando had a new HDR-SR1 in EVO housing. I think this thread started answering a question from him....
Anyway Mike, Fernando said you set his camera up and it was giving great colour. He didn't write down the settings, and now the colour isn't great. Do you remember what set-up you might have implemented for him back then? Maybe as simple as a particular white balance?
Fernando and Claudia will be here a couple more days so are keen to get it right. Fernando promises to write it down this time.
cheers
hahaha.. i was wondering why this thread popped up again! and yes it was this thread.
Hmm.. now i don't remember what we did! If i recall correctly there is no manual wb on that setup. i would try outdoor wb. with red filter between 15 and 75 feet and without the filter below 75 and above 15. Or that would be 5 to 25m
Def say hello to them for me!
