Just visiting Peter Rowlands today, who has a nice shiny new Subal ND80 housing here with camera inside. Already had the Tokin 10-17mm on it.
The housing is very well finished and compact. Seems an excellent piece of kit. I think I'll be getting one soon!
I'll try and post some photos.

Hi Alex,
Ahh, pardon me for asking, BUT,
Is this a carefully designed advertising ploy? or do you have a reason
why you would step down from your D2x, go past the D200, and end
up with the 'prosumer' targeted D80?? Or do I just have a suspicious mind???
Hooroo,
Bruce
I meant to say before that the housing is very Subal - to anyone who has used a Nikon Subal this will feel right at home! It is most similar to Subal's D200 housing is size and shape.
The D80 is my girlfriend's. Although I'm planning on using it as a second system. The D2X is so expensive that I can get the D80 and a housing for less than a second D2X body! That is my plan, although I will have to prise it out of her hands. Eleonora beat me in a photo competition this week - I didn't even make the top 6! See the BSoUP Focus On results here!

A question from the 'Colonies', ......
The BSouP web page lists the meeting as "Wednesday 18th April 2007 at 7.30 for 8.00 p.m." Does the meeting start at 7:30 or 8:00?
Alex, what do you think of the D80 as an UW camera vs. a D200?

Same sensor, same AF. Cheap plastic body - really doesn't make a difference in a housing.

Hey Colonialist
It means the doors open at 7.30 but the meeting starts at 8pm
Finally got my grubby hands on my Subal ND80 last night. It has been sitting on the shelf at Ocean Optics waiting for me for the last few weeks!
It is very small. See it here (on right) next to my D2X and F100 housings.
Ideal as a second, back up system - and the camera and housing were much cheaper than second D2X body!
I am not going to take it to the Red Sea on Saturday. I am running a workshop and with the responsibilities that brings it is not the time to be playing with a new camera. But I plan to bring it on the Wetpixel Shark Trip. Its light weight should make it excellent for Jim's Lemon Snaps.

Looks good... Let us know if it is as negatively buoyant as the ND200 (although I suspect it is not because the D80 is lighter than the D200, but the housings appear very similar in size).
Thanks for the comparison pics, Alex.
Interesting in the light of the discussion a couple of weeks ago about the difference in weight/size for travelling with either a D2X set-up or D200/D80. The difference for a couple of bodies and the housing must be quite significant - especially with airlines, certainly out of the UK, becoming less generous over baggage allowances.
Hey Alex if you give those housings some privacy do you think they will breed for you?
