Help on creating website

Dear All,

I want to create a new website where I can include my personal information as well as a image gallery for my pictures and potentially a blog.

The only language I have used in the past was HTML. Nowadays there are a bunch of different languages which I do not know and I do not know what are the main advantages.

What do you guys recommend me for creating my website?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Start off with html, css, and javascript

html is still the basic building block for every website. There is no replacing html, just adding to it.

css is the next thing you need to learn. Css is how you format your pages.

Javascript is a language used to write programs that are run on the user's computer. The most common use for javascrip is to make content that changes when you click (or hover over with mouse) for example. Look at the menu bar that runs across the top of this page. (news-articals-reviews....) that is javascript program.

Finally there are server programming languages: php and asp.

These are programing languages that you use to write programs that write html code. For example. Wetpixel uses php. When you click on a link on this site, the php program on the server analzies information you send it (such as which link you cliked on, what prefrences are in your user account, what time it is, or even what web browser you are using) and then the program writes some html code specifically for you and then sends it to you.

You may want to look into www.wordpress.org

it's use of themes to style is html and css based .. the workings is php and mysql.

but it will if youspend just a little bit more time benefit you in the long run.

it's not that complicated and is very well documented and easy to use.
