  1. Hi all

this is my first proper post here so please bear with me.

i am trying to find a camcorder and housing for filming surfing and kitesurfing, the housing should hopefully be pretty sandproof and waterproof to 5-10feet

i had a sony hc24 and an old spk-trb housing that i found cheap on ebay, i had to mod the tray in the housing and the controls wouldnt work because the camcorder didnt have the right conections but it was good fun and i got some ok footage out of it. unfortunatly that setup got run over ( long story  ) but im wanting to replace it for the impending summer.

my budget is tight, the hc24 did what i was after quite nicely so wouldnt mind getting another one of those and i have been looking at the sony spk-hcb housing.

i have some questions about the housing that google hasnt managed to help me with so i figured this forum was my best shot. what sort of connection does that housing use for the buttons? i have seen the hc24 in the list of compatable camcorders for the housing but it doesnt appear to have any sort of connection that would accept the buttons (LANC???), will it work?

also for kitesurfing footage i find closeup with a wide angle lens produces best results, would i fit a sony .6 lens in the housing too?

i would really appreciate any advice form anyone who owns or has used the housing

    many thanks

    Angus

  2. I would suggest you also look at the SPK-HCC. Both use lanc and CANNOT fit any lens attachments. color filters are ok. I'm not sure either of them fit your camera so I'd check with your store.

There is a guy here with a FX1 in a custom fiber glass surf housing. He has had other ones before as well made from the same guy.

I'll see if I can find the guy who made them for him. He is in Australia somewhere.

    More soon.
