Dual Synch Cable with One Strobe?

7 posts
  1. I had to send one of my DS-125's into Ikelite for a repair. Can I use my dual strobe cord with one end capped off or do I need to get a single cable? I'd hate to fry something but I'd also rather not shell out the cash for a cable I'll use once. Thanks.

  2. There is a cap that comes with the dual cords, but Ikelite says this cap is NOT to be used for underwater use - it's a dust cap only.

With that said, I think I've used the dust cap in a pool before w/o flooding it. Use at your own risk.

That's what I thought. Looks like I'll be shelling out for a synch cord. Thanks for the info.

  4. Better to shell out for a single than a new double i would say!

Yup, just ordered one yesterday. Nothing worse than when trying to be cheap it costs one more money. Thanks.

  6. There is a old saying, i'm too poor to be cheap.

The warning should be taken seriously on things that cost a lot of money and goes into a potentially hazardous environment, items such as protective caps, port caps, cords cap ususally are not bound by the same tolerance scrutiny that is used for stuff that actually goes underwater. well it fits ! just does'nt cut it when it come to ambient pressure. Smart decision Andy :)

  7. I wonder if the OLD ikelite dustcaps, (that were recalled many years ago due to keeping the orings compressed), would serve as better uw seals?
