Tough subject for something sitting still - there was a huge amount of surge at this dive site in Key Largo last weekend and I was flying backwards and forwards trying to get the focus correct. This one came out very nice.

This is about a 80% of a full frame crop. 60mm lens, F16, 1/125, Dual Strobes (Full power & 1/2 power)

    Enjoy,

  2. Nice shot Paul! Very good lighting. All the shots I have of these are too flat lighting for my taste.

I noticed the same thing when I was in Grand Cayman - these guys like to live in shallow water surge zones. I think that's because there is a lot of turf algae and bryopsis for them to eat there.

But it's really hard to find them in the viewfinder because it's a bright environment and a white nudi against a white background!

    Cheers

  3. That's probably the best shot I have seen of one of these. I found one in Belize perched up on a nice piece of coral for a good profile shot but I had the Nik V and 15mm.

Tough to get the exposure right on these. I am trying to decide whether I like this image a little better than the first one I posted.

  5. Too bad that they are always found on such a brown drab background. Something dark would really work well...

But then we don't disturb marinelife to get the shot...

    Cheers

  6. I prefer the lighting of the first one and the background. More vibrant in the first shot, in my humble opinion. Terrific shot.
