Eel + Parasites

  1. I think it's a type of moral eel, but I don't have any shots of the body. There are little parasites on its face also. Can anyone help with IDing the eel and/ or parasites?

  2. Tony... can you get a 150+% crop of the parasites? Would help a lot in the process.

  3. The parasites on the lower jaw are copepods (going from the twin egg sacs). But certainly couldn't get much more specific than that.

  4. how about Uropterygius fuscoguttatus on the moray? just a guess

  5. Here's a close-up of the parasites.

Mike, looks plausible, but I can't seem to find any really good ID photos of Uropterygius fuscoguttatus to compare. The photo in the World Atlas of Marine Fishes (Kuiter/ Debelius) doesn't seem to match. Can't find any good ones on the net.

    Cheers,
