I shot some photos with the Nikon 105 VR and had the lens set on "Normal" VR which dampens out vertical movements and ignores panning movements for the most part. "Active" VR is the setting for use in, say, riding in a car down a bumpy road where one wishes the camera to dampen movements in the vertical and horizontal axes.
It seems to me - after the fact - that use of the active mode would be best underwater, particularly in shallow conditions with some surge for macro in particular.
Has anyone played with the two different setting underwater and have they seen any appreciable difference.
