Example: Say big strobes like S&S 350 Pros, Subtronic Mega, etc...; lenses 10.5 or the 10-17; shooting big wreck, reefscape or big creatures/schools.
What combination/length of strobe arms do you use??
actually you don't need them too far apart. i know several photogs who use just one 8 inch arm.
The key to lighting a fisheye lens is to make sure you get the strobes far BACK. You will want to actually bring them back far enough that the face of the strobe is actually behind the back of the housing. That way you will avoid flare. (lighting close focus stuff becomes a pain in the butt)
Ideally you want the strobes 8-16 inches off the side of the camera. You don't need to have them 2-3 feet away
Thanks Mike looking to pick up some of the Stix arms so re-thinking my current assortment.

Thanks Mike I am looking at my set up right now and was deciding if I needed 2 extentions or one. So just to recap my thinking
1- 2 strobes on 8 -12 inch arms behind port to avoid flare
2- angled slightly out to avoid back scatter.
3-One strobe about about 1 f stop less light to give a little modeling
Thanks

well, i should mention that i used to use 1 12 inch on each side but then switched to two 8 inch on each side.
This was mainly due to manouverability for close focus wide angle and macro. I use the two 8 inch per side in all situations.
But they are certainly not stretched out to 16 inches on WA, more shaped like this: ^. so strobe probably 12 inches away from camera
