  1. Just wanted to let folks know that there's a new DiveFilm podcast up called "Eddie & the Hagfish," and it's not for the faint of heart.

In this video, Scripps Institution of Oceanography Marine Technician Eddie Kisfaludy introduces us to the weird world of Hagfish. And Scripps intern Lily Bolig keeps her cool as she encounters Hagfish slime for the very first time.

This podcast is rated KO--for "kids only" or kids at heart...may not be suitable for some adults.

To get to the podcast at iTunes, you can click on this link which will automatically launch iTunes on your computer and take you to the DiveFilm Podcast page at iTunes where you can download Episode 44 "Eddie & the Hagfish" for free, and watch it right on your computer.

If you need more info on accessing the podcasts at iTunes, go to the podcast page here at Wetpixel, or watch a tutorial video with even more info about accessing the podcast at iTunes.

DiveFilm Podcast Video is produced in association with Wetpixel.com. Hope you enjoy Eddie & the Hagfish!

  2. That was really kinda cool. I'm glad to see the DiveFilm podcasts branching out a bit into broader marine biology subjects.

One minor criticism, the audio was a bit muddy and tended to get lost in the ambient noise around all those large tanks.

  3. Well done as usual Mary Lynn. This one was educational but also entertaining. You've become the master of making these type of films. Women Divers Hall of Fame is on your horizon.

Yes, the audio was the tough one on this vid. You have no idea what all that electrical equipment can do--or maybe you do! Suffice it to say it came down to not using the video interview segments shot on location in the Scripps lab aquarium area or doing the best I could with what I had. I opted for the latter. Biggest challenge: a horrific hum at around 1.35 kHz. It wasn't too bad on speakers, but a nightmare on headphones/earbuds. FCP has an OK hum remover filter, and it took some sweeping to find the problem frequency, and which harmonics were the worst offenders. End result is a bit muddy, but "on site." It was definitely a trade-off.
