Here is a sample from a project we are working on.
It's a Turtle Training DVD, teaching Turtles how to nest
We shot the stuff at night on the Sony A1 with an external infared light on top of it.
Its a mixture of DV 4.3, 16.9 and HDV cut up on a DV 16.9 timeline.
4 megs wmv
Wags, reminds me of our Heron Island experiences years back Really love the little turtles! I haven't used our A1 night shot much but looks good. What brand (and cost) or ext infra red light are you using?
Looks good Wags. Do these turtles learn as fast as the whale sharks?
Er, was that an "inappropriate torch" pointing at that little hatchling?
Get Kelly to slow down a bit and enunciate like she's in a speech competition.
The Infared is a Sony HVL-IRM.
It can take the A1's battery and goes for hours.
Cost about $120 AUD
West Aus version is no torches while the national code is do what ever.
We are doing two versions.
Thats not Kelly speaking, but do agree.
You kidding? Anything goes with lights and turtle nesting? Australia continues to amaze me about how careless they are with their amazing wildlife. Thanks for the info on the light...plan to get one to film leatherback nesting in West Palm.
Oh sorry Wags, she sounds a lot like Kelly. Just teasing about the torch, just wasn't sure if you were demonstrating what to do or what not to do because of the timing of that clip with the voiceover.
I should dig out my clip of the dive guide dropping a turtle hatchling on the restaurant floor in Sipadan.
Yes in Queensland you can even fire away with your flash and pick up the hatchlings.
I think it's more money driven over there as some places can have like 60 people looking at a turtle.
That clip is part of the main intro section for both hence the light with the baby.
Trying to get it finished before we go but looks like we will have to finish it when we get back.
