  1. I took an Ikelite Housing and modified it for use with my Canon 5D. Look.post-10640-1182016413_thumb.jpg . If your curious let me know.

  2. Cool! Which housing did you use?

    Cheers

  3. I used a slr housing #6775 made for a canon a2e but you can use different ones as well. My friend converted a housing made for a nikon. All you have to do is make a spacer for the camera mount and attach it to the original camera mount by drilling a hole in it. see attached.post-10640-1182018356_thumb.jpg post-10640-1182018381_thumb.jpg I used an arca swiss plate for mine but you can make it out of anything. Then i removed some of the rubber cusions on the controls and cut the metal stems then I glued the rubber back on. You can move some of the control knobs around as you see fit. You don't get all the controls except the most important ones like the shutter button and control wheels. Also most of the screen is blocked but if your used to shooting film that's not much of an issue.

  4. [Hi - i converted an ikelite n90 film houing to use a pentax k100 digital. The nikon d40 would fit also but it was not available at the time. Works great. Only have zoom control and shutter release but the settings i came up with work great.

Shutter priority mode-set shutter speed for 125/second 1/2 power on strobe . camera usually picks f11 or f16

    White balance set to strobe.

Setting 2- set shutter speed for 180/second 1/2 power on strobe- camera usually picks f11 or f8 most of the time

    White balance set to strobe

This setting is good for balaced lighting the other is for more contrast between the subject and background.

I had an nikonos 5 and shot on m90 as the electronics fried 15yrs ago and shot m90 and just adjusted aperature to the shot. 90% success rate. I am now doing similar setting on digital as the camera iso is iso 200 instead of iso 100 for film so i can use faster shutter speeds. Digital is much more sensitive to the strobe light so 1/2 power on strobe is the perfect power. Full power is to much light.
