10-17FE zoom in Aquatica?

5 posts
  1. I have a Canon 20D in Aquatica housing. I have been looking at purchasing the Tokina 10-17 FE zoom and wanted to see if it was supported by Aquatica or if there are plans to develop a zoom ring for this lens. If not, is there any tips for custom fabrication that may enable me to use this lens. Also any ideas what ewxtension ring would work well for this set-up?

    cheers!

ps. just got back from Bimini - should have another lemon shark research update soon

  2. I am pretty sure that Aquatica have a zoom gear for ths lens already. And I am sure an Aquatica user can suggest the correct port.

  3. As of a couple of months ago, Aquatica did not have a zoom gear for this lens. I took the zoom gear for 10-22 and machined the ID to fit the lens.

The lens will work in the 8" dome with or without an extension ring. I ended up using the 10-22 extension ring but I am not sure exactly why I did that. I have had only one trip with this lens. Works great!

  4. The Gear # is 18717 and is readily available, the port is the 8" dome and so far field report is that an extension ring is not necessary, but as TomC mentionned, a thin extension wont hurt if you have it already.

I'm scheduled for some pool time middle of next week and will try the lens with and with out extension to see what is the best combination.

  5. I USED MY EXISTING 10-22 ZOOM GEAR ON MY 300D AND AQUATICA BUT I JUST PUT IT ON BACK TO FRONT. WORKS WELL FOR ME BUT NOT SURE IF IT IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FOR THE 20D.
