  1. Looks good...

I bought one of these with an aluminum backplate for travel:

They are very light, and so comfortable that I retired my old one and use only the OMS now.

  2. Well, I succumbed to temptation and bought one of these in Singapore on my back to Australia on Thursday. The Ralf Tech agent had 20% off as part of the "Great Singapore Sale".

    Thanks for the feedback.

  3. I too 'travel light' with Ralftech, though it does attract some unusual attention...

Any good dealers in the states? The tech harness looks interesting...

  5. Mares' new "Icon" looks kind of nice in this same vein, too. Folds up quite neatly.

  6. One thing to be cautious of is how hard wearing the BC is. I has a Seaquest Passport and it wore out in about 18 months - and their answer was basically yes it has worn out, buy another. The cost of a new BC can pay for quite a bit of excess luggage.

I now have a lightweight Scubapro T-Sport - it is slightly heavier but made of much more hardwearing material.

You're not supposed to be scratching your back on the coral. :D

Just kidding. I don't know you, but from reading here and elsewhere do know well enough that you wouldn't be that type of diver.

I do agree that durability is an issue - but think that most BCDs with the inch thick Cordura with woven kevlar and other aramids (exaggeration, but you get what I mean) are a bit overkill. Fondling an Icon I could easily see it was a much thinner weave for the fabric body, but still seemed no less sturdy than my laptop messenger bag, and that gets the *bleep* knocked out of it all the time on travel.
