I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me with the picture I took last week of the coast of Balitmore, Co Cork. Coming back from a dive when we had the chance to snorkel with a couple of Basking sharks. in the excitement when one came straight towards me, I forgot to turn of the internal flash and the picture is quite messy because of it. I have been trying to clear up the picture a bit in photoshop but I'm just not good enough to clear it up. I have tried auto levels etc and that have given me a clearer image but I'm hoping to be able to clear up a bit more. Is there anything that can be done to this image ? Or should I be happy with what I got ?
Thankful for any advise on this.
Many thanks
Tony
Frankly there isn't a lot you can do other than some levels and curves adjustments. I actually like the look because it appears that the basking shark is gulping down plankton. These are almost always found in murky, plankton filled goo water anyhoe. Make it pop a little more in contrast but I dont think there is a huge need to elimninate the backscatter. Now if it were my image, I'd want all the backscatter out too

Thanks Joe,
I have been trying out different adjustments and been playing with some brushes as well. Mixed results but as you said. If it wasn't because of the plankton I wouldn't have been able to get the shot in the first place.
My own fault as I didn't check the flash...... I still like the shot thou but it would be nice to get rid of the worst parts.
