Sephia for Underwater : is it acceptable?

I converted this particular shot into sephia tone, personally I kinda like it but some of my friends disagree with me, unnatural they said. I'd love to hear what the forum say on this, your comments will be very much appreciated.

If the original was shot in color, could you please post so we can see both?

Overall, I don't mind the sepia look here, maybe better than B&W. Composition is good. But, if there is nice color on the foreground reef, then why hide it?

I've just posted the original shot, it'is almost monotonic in my opinion.
