Sea & Sea philosophy for re-branded cameras?

Hi all,

I think the Sea and sea option for the Richoc GX100 could be interesting if it doesn't end up to expensive.

However I the re-branding of the camera itself seems funny, how does this usually work with the Sea&Sea cameras? Is this just superficial or do they also add some functions and features in software and hardware? Are the branded cameras compatible with the originals' software and hardware? Can you use the original camera in the Sea & sea housing ore are these always packaged deals?

I don't have any substantive data, but as far as I can see, the Sea & Sea branded cameras are a cosmetic re-branding of their Ricoh or Practica originals. As to what cameras you can use with what housings, Digideep.com maintain a database of this information, which is very good.

Based on digideep, the Sea & Sea DX1G housing supports the Ricoh GX100 camera as well as the Sea & Sea DX1G camera.
