Also has anybody put cc 30 green gels over their strobes to compensate?
thanks
Yeah I do it all the time, it really kick in the blue in the background water, I use Nikon's and Fuji's and usually will either do a manual balance (best scenario) on the sand or shoot manual WB in RAW and tweak later.
I also used the Magic filter in combination with strobes filtered with 15 cc green and a 85B Rosco gels, its great for fill flash and was the technique used for Todd Essick winning shot of girl with sharks, just go easy on the fill.
When Ice diving I found that using a off the shelf FLD filter on the lens with 15cc green on the strobes givesme the best result, in this case i'll WB later in the software due to the nature of the situation, (the only white thing is backlit ice, no good)
There is a couple of threads on the subject already, you might want to dig into the archives for more info.
While at the camera store picking up those acetate sheets, add one 81C warming sheet to the shopping cart, when used in pool portrait or macro it gives a nice warm rendering if your strobes tend to be on the chilly side of the spectrum.
