Hotel in Brisbane

  1. Hi

Going on the Bilikiki next week and just discovered that I need to over-night in Brisbane.

Is there any hotel near the airport that would be recommend?

  2. This is closest to airport and quite cheap. very small rooms, but clean, so if you are just sleeping and back to airport then OK. I have stayed in a few of this chain (not the brisbane airport one) when travelling around oz and they are OK, just a room really, only thing is if you have lots of gear ask for ground floor as they have no lifts.

For probably the same cost as a cab to that hotel, you could use the train that goes direct from the international airport to Brisbane City (the "Airtrain" www.airtrain.com.au ), where you have your choice of hotels. One is right above Central Station www.sofitelbrisbane.com.au so no need for cabs at all. More dollars for the room but advantage of nice hotel if you like that sort of thing and things to do in the city even if you have only a few hours to kill. Then airtrain straight back to the Airport (train ride is about 20mins I think).

  3. We spent three nights in Brisbane last Fall before ten nights on Spirit of Solomons. We too used the trains, very convenient and inexpensive, but using the trains before and after our Brisbane stay wouldn't have been so desirable if we hadn't have been so portable with wheels on our luggage... <_<
