hi all,
i did an "art in the park" type event yesterday, had a stall selling a few of my underwater images and also had a printed out description of what we are doing regarding conservation efforts for sharks etc.
as is always the case at these type of things, i got to talk to a good number of people and there was a lot of interest regarding marine conservation and a lot of people were fascinated by what is under the sea.
anyway, the point of this post is that during those conversations, a handful of people said that they had heard lately that sharks weren't dangerous creatures, and didn't attack people in the way that was once portrayed.
i found this to be enormously encouraging, that due to efforts of many people in conservation and the diving community, we are getting that message across, and if the public begin to view the shark as a worthy thing to save, then we are, slowly but surely, getting there, making roads towards that goal.
so, if anyone is reading this and is involved in this battle to keep saving sharks, then please keep at it, or if you aren't already involved, please try to do as much as you can to help those that are. it's working, but we have a long way to go.
thank you,
mark
