Hey, guys! Sorry I haven't been around to post much. I've been almost literally on the road since February. I just returned from Alaska aboard the Nautilus Explorer, and it was AWESOME.
I managed to chuck a bunch of photos onto Flickr just now:
That's all I can do at the moment. I leave for the back-to-back Wetpixel Bahamas shark expeditions... in less than 4 hours! Mustard is going as well, and we'll be looking for oceanic white-tips during the first trip. I'm tired -- but excited.
Looks great, coldwaterdiving is really worth doing.
Yep it is really great stuff to do. Nice to see you found a Mosshead warbonnet too. Decorated and Mosshead's are my favourites.
Enjoy the sharks
Todd
Good lord Eric....thats amazing.
Wish I had a cheque book like yours

Hmm. I don't know what to say. That's what I like to call a "backhanded compliment."
It's just really amazing the places you go to Eric.
Is that you in the Ice there?
I say all the more to you if you can do it. Wish I could join you more on some of these great trips. I have not dove the Alaska area because Port Hardy is so damn good. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the diving abundance up where you were.
Good on ya!
Todd

Hi Todd,
I've done a fair bit of diving in both places (all on the Nautilius Explorer). I think Port Hardy is more consistent but that may reflect Mike's greater experience with that area. Alaska keeps getting better as he finds more spots. A greater percentage of the dives I've done in Alaska were busts than in Port Hardy but the diving was much more varied and the good dives were really, really good. Wooden Island (near Port Alexander) and St. Lazarius Island (outside of Sitka) were just insanely great.
Eric - nice stuff. Was the Prowfish on the Princess Sophia?

Nice, I leave in 5 days for Juneau myself.
I am signed up for July 2008. I can't hardly wait. BTW, what was the water temp like?

I'll be making my first Nautilus Explorer trip on August 11th, heading to Port Hardy. I've been going to Port Hardy every year for the past 4 now, and I think it's the best, most colorful, and beautiful place to dive anywhere. Cold Water Rocks!!
