Attaching the sync cord to the TTL-Converter socket

3 posts
  1. Dear Wet-Pixel Members

recently i bought DX-D80 for my Nikon D80.

I have a question regarding the flash socket.

I notice that, on DX-D80, there are 2 type of sockets.

one of them marked with TTL CONVERTER and the other one isn't.

Since i have 2 YS-90 auto, can i just plug the YS-90 auto to the TTL CONVERTER socket?

(i dont have the dual sync cord cable). i only have 2 single sync cord cable.

I know that i wont be able to use the TTL ability, which is ok for me.

I just need to make sure that i can still be able to control the power of the flash.

1 unit of YS-90 auto to the NON-TTL socket and,

1 unit of YS-90 auto to the TTL Converter socket

Is it safe to do that? and will i be able use Manual mode in this kind of setting? ( Or i can't control the power of the flash output. Since the the socket is made only for TTL-Converter)

By doing this, will it damage the Dx-D80???

    Please help me.

    Thx you

    Andree

  2. No harm will be done, but your camera will probably lock up....

You can buy one of these from your friendly local Inon dealer:

    http://inonamerica.com/content/docs/Insulation%20Plate.pdf

It is the best way I've found to convert 5 Pin bulkheads for manual strobes. I sure wish we knew about these back in the days of taping off hotshoe contacts....

  3. Thx you for the information.

However, we dont have any INON dealer in Indonesia.

we only have sea&sea Dealer in Indonesia :)

    No Inon

    No Nexus

    No Hugy Foot

    No Sea Cam

    No Subal

only ikelite and Sea&Sea (with very limited choices. U need to pre-order it and wait about 1 month to get want you want)

What else i can use instead of this one? ( i wish i can buy it here, in Indonesia)

    Thx You

    Andree
