Yes, if they do the Sugar Wreck there is chance of Orangeball corlimorphs.

I can find that one in the USVI, although it takes a bit of searching around. ![]()

I would say no macro that you can't find anywhere else then. That said, you never know....
I've been on two tiger shark trips, and am going on a third one next week. I've seen a few people get decent macro shots while awaiting their next turn with the sharks, but I personally haven't taken a macro lens - and won't be on this upcoming trip, either.
The primary opportunity on these trips is for wide angle stuff, and I wouldn't want to have a macro lens when one of those big WA opp's swims by. ![]()
Having said all that, if your schedule allows for doing any dives in W. Palm before/after the shark trip, you would definitely have some good macro opportunities THERE. But once you're out in the Bahamas looking for/diving with big stuff, I doubt your macro lens would see the light of day again...
Julie and I will be seeing you then next week
My main concern is just luggage. We dont want to take all our macro gear if we have maybe 1 dive with macro. We're just taking 10-17, 10.5, and maybe 12-24.

That sounds like a perfect combination of lenses for this trip!
I look forward to meeting you!
What about night dives? Any lights necessary? Id love to leave those at home too ![]()

Occasionally, Jimmy lets some people do night dives, but nobody has done so on either trip I've been on...and I'm not sure I'd do it even if offered!
I personally won't be bringing a night light.
Of course, if you don't bring one, that will almost guarantee that they'll do a night dive that you'll have to miss, and it will turn out to be the coolest dive EVER! ![]()
Cor,
You might want to bring a lens in the range of 35mm or 50mm (on Nikon) for shooting shark portraits. It's a look that people sometimes just plain forget on these trips. You can always shoot it behind your dome port, so not much more to carry.
Have fun! Wish I was going with you guys.
James
I was lucky enough to dive with Jim Abernethy last year. I only had one housing then but shot a lot of macro at night. Take it.
Cheers,
Paddy Ryan
Cor:
I managed to get a couple of decent night dive shots at tiger beach
