San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition Needs You!

  1. Hello All,

Just a reminder that the entry deadline for video submissions for the 8th Annual 2007 San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition is in one more month on August 15th! So that's one more month to get your best images together and submit a film or two if you haven't already!

This year's film fest will take place on Friday and Saturday evenings, October 12th and 13th. In some ways the San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition is a little different from many of the other uw film fests. Over the years, a number of us have fought hard to keep the film fest award-free, the tickets affordable, and the emphasis on appreciation of underwater imaging shown in a great venue. There are no entry fees, the selection process is by an independent panel of judges who are all accomplished professionals in the imaging and media fields, and even those whose films are selected must purchase a ticket to get in. Those of us organizing this not-for-profit film fest are all volunteers.

The film fest will take place this year at the brand new (and incredibly beautiful!) QUALCOMM Hall in San Diego. This is QUALCOMM's own in-house state-of-the-art digital theater with fully High Definition projection capability. Just an amazing place, and a really fantastic venue in which to have your film(s) shown to a most appreciative audience.

There'll be two evenings of completely different film programs, with approximately 30 films to be shown overall of both standard and high definition video. For more info on submission requirements and where to send your tapes, please go to the San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition website.

And I hope to see you and your film(s) this October at the San Diego UnderSea Film Exhibition!!

  2. Hi Mary Lynn, Steve and Bruce,

Other than fighting through the past 4 days of capturing footage from my recent trip, now embarking on a possible week to archive everything and then going in to an edit, from having just signed a licensing deal with a big agency and vying for the lead camera on a large production and planning domination at Antibes this year I am actually in the planning for a short entry to this very festival. I'm gonna be cutting it fine but thats the way it will have to be.

Hey Steve, had a blast chatting to you in Bali, all too short a meeting though. How were the R&C's? How was the trip? PM me with the details if you actually got to see the 'you know what'?

    Cheers,

    Mark.

  3. Hey All,

Mark and I finally got to meet at my hotel in Bali prior to boarding the Voyager. As he says, it was all too short a meeting and I felt guilty as hell that Mark drove the hour and a half from the other side of the island just to get together and buy me a few rounds of R & Cs. A great guy and, after initially mistaking him for a missing, unmet guest we were on the lookout for, it was a joy to meet with a friend made here on Wetpixel but not met in person. I doubt if anyone can second guess Mark's expertise or his warmth. As he said, just wish we could have hung out a bit longer. Cheers and hats off to you Mark.

  4. Aw shucks Steve,

You're making me all embarrassed :D:angry:

    Cheers,

Cam "I knew buying a few Rum n Cokes would get me a glowing report and up my public profile" Diver. haha

  5. Hey all,

Leaving for a Kenyan safari to shoot the animal migration this coming Sat. We have the full tented camp, 5 jeeps and 15 other guests. Will be back on the 15th, which just so happens to be the deadline for film submissions for the San Diego UnderSea Film Festival. Thus, this is my last reminder to those who intend to be a part of a magnificant show. It will also be the first time in 8 years I am not submitting something to the judges myself. You folks will need to take my place and get those films in. Just send them to Bob Gladden whose address and info is at the bottom of the submissions letter. I look forward to seeing everyone's work.

    Steve B)

  6. I will be FedExing in something, still cutting like mad.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

  7. Have a great trip Steve and post some pics when you get back.

I think you might see some of our stuff on the big screen this year too.
