  4. Sorry my internet must of been very slow or something when I tried it before.

    Works now. :D

  5. So I get one of these cameras with Flash Media.

Get home and transfer it to my computers hardrive off the Flash Media cards that I shot on which would take a few minutes.

Edit the material, make my DVD or whatever then how do I store the raw footage?

Send it back to a $5 mini DV tape I suppose.

Blank HD DVD disks and burners are way too costly right now and I'm certainly not going to archive to a hardrive.

So the only time I'm saving is getting it into the computer to edit which is not really a problem. So what if it takes 20 mins to suck in 20 mins compared to 1 minute from a flash media card. Maybe if I was a news reporter or similar but not for my normal work or fun dives.

So I'm saying is it worth all that money right now in getting into it. :) Nope. :)

  6. Wags ,

Don't worry about the cost of the camera - it doesn't fit your housing anyway !

Even if it did fit - you would have no controls as the XD EX does not have LANC ( it has new type of connector and remote protocol ) or any type of video out except SDI so no external monitors ( well none of the current batch anyway).

Sony have a new XD player that will become a recorder when the firmware update comes available in September - this means XD media will a very affordable archival option.

Well there you go no point in having it.... and this XD player/recorder.....how much will that be.. :)

I think $5 mini DV tapes will be around for a few more years yet. :)

Looks like you had fun trying to shove it in the housings anyhow........

  8. You poor old FX1 users..Still trying to justify your mistakes.. :)

We had all this grumbling when HDV came about. No monitors then either. I think the housing companies will be working their arses off around the clock to produce something good. The order list for the EX is unreal so they better be. The thing that sells it is the actual specs and performance for such a small cam.

Anyway I'm a rental guy for now. Much cheaper and you can claim it back from MR taxman.
