Inon Z240 o-ring service

5 posts
  1. Hi,

I would like to service the o-ring located behind this front "glass" cover. Once the 5 screws hould ing black rubber edge trim in place are removed, how do I proceed from there to remove the "glass" cover?

    Thanks

  2. Why do you want to service that o -ring ?

  3. AAA, was so glad when i saw a reply to my question and was hoping for advice not a question :ninja:

Anyway its because I clean behind the black trim, i.e. by removing the black trim and i spotted some water in the groove of the o-ring, so i feel the need to service that o-ring.

Any pointers on how to proceed would be of great help.

    Thanks

  4. When you say you want to "service" your o-ring, what do you mean? I guess if you find any visible flaws (nicks, cuts, etc on the o-ring itself) you are looking to replace it? I'm afraid you're probably in unchartered waters there... I think most would send theirs back for servicing even if its out of warranty. If the o-ring is easy to remove, maybe you could contact Inon Japan or Inon America to see if they will sell you a replacement o-ring.

Out of curiousity, once you remove the 5 screws on the front black trim, is the glass then free to come out?

edit: dooh! didn't see that this was posted in the DIY section... Silly me...

  5. Hi Aqua,

To answer your question, I have had two of my Z-220s for over ten years (more than 2500 dives) and have never serviced anything but the battery cover o-rings. I have also never had any reason to send them back to Inon or to remove the "black ring" on the front. As long as you are using the strobes they will keep working without a fuss.
