The delicate texture of Metridiums

  1. I dove Breakwater Cove last weekend and was wowed by the amazing textures of the Metridiums. The vis was pretty poor, but I had my 100mm macro lens on so it worked out reasonably well. These guys must be visitors from another planet.

  2. Nice, Steve.

  3. Is this converted to black and white ... or is this their colour ..

the different layers of little arms really makes it a capturing shot.

I took it and put it in PS just out of interest to see what it looked like inverted .. i gets a crazy sort of xray feel to it.

  4. Is this converted to black and white ... or is this their colour ..

The short answer is: Both. I converted to BW to improve the contrast since the water was fairly turbid, but the Metridiums are very white. There was very little color in the original image, other than an overall green cast.

  5. I have seen some neat shots when they are also backlit. Love the Emerald sea diving.
