The saga of my father's diving adventures continues. He turns 81 in December and today he was diving with the mermaids of Weeki Wachee. All you guys out there -- eat your heart out!

PS don't you love it that Weeki Wachee is still around? I don't know how they managed to keep it going - probably just cause SFWMD (Affectionately or not so affectionately known as "Swift-Mud" or South Florida Water Mgmt Dist) bought it some time ago and agreed the mermaids were quite historical!

Actually the powers that be are in discussions right now about the park. Apparently, SFWMD is considering not renewing their lease. The park's future is definitely in jeopardy. It would definitely be a shame to lose it.
Interestingly, one of the reasons my dad wanted to dive with the mermaids there was that he went to Weeki Wachee with my mom on their honeymoon -- in 1950!

Now it is examples like this that make it all worth logging on and keeping up with what is going on!
Yes, we will have to keep the park open there just for your Dad!! Maybe this could become a yearly event for him?

LOL! Actually, my mom (she turns 79 in September) only snorkels. We haven't won her over yet. As you know, the rest of us are avid (or should that be rabid!) divers!
