While I didn't actually study the specs, this is basically an FX-7 with interchangeable lens options. Thus, there will surely be restrictions as to what lens will fit in any brand housing.

Actually it's only a single 1/3" CMOS. It's more HC7 than FX7. It reminds me of the old VX700, which was a single sensor version of VX1000.

Opps didn't think they'd announce that camera yet... since it's still unnamed. Yup it's 3 x CMOS. I guess they wanted to upstage the competition by products announcements of possible models first.

Photos in this thread show "3 CMOS" on the side.

Sony have released 4 new cameras so far. Two are shoulder mount, one with 3 - 1/3" CMOS and another with 1/2.9" single CMOS. Then there is the EX1 with 3 - 1/2" CMOS, and the unnamed 3 - 1/3" CMOS Handycam. The as yet not named 3 - 1/3" CMOS Handycam is probably a Z1 replacement, however it is not at all the same form factor (will not fit specific housings). Lots of great cameras coming out very soon.
