Olympus E-410 and a quick easy strap attachment

  1. Well just got my E-410 camera and like most housings it requires the removal of the camera strap but unlike some it also requires the removal of the rings which fasten the strap to the camera. These little strap rings are quite a pain to get off and on. Some cameras have a beefy grip which gives you some comfort of toting a camera around without the strap. However, the E-410 is kind of tough to hold in one hand and you certainly wouldn't go on a day hike without wanting to attach a strap. Well after some searching I found a couple of spring clips made of steel which are both sturdy and also serve as a quick release/install for the strap. The only problem is I found the clips as part of a key chain bought at an automotive store so I don't have a supplier for them. However, for a whole $2 I purchased the key ring just for the clip. Here are some photos.

The first shot is to show you the size and type of clip. The 2nd shows the clip on the camera while the final shot shows the straps holding the camera.

really? mine doesn't. Is that in the manual? You have to make sure they are twisted and standing up, but if they're laying down by the body, they seem to be fine.

  3. the manual says to remove them (page en 16). I didn't want to damage the housing so I did.
