YS110 problems

  1. Hi all, im starting to become a little worried about the YS110. We bought 4, and 2 of them failed within 1 week. One comes on and doesnt fire at all, not even in slave. The other only does a full dump, the power setting switch doesnt work anymore (it may never have worked..i only noticed it after 4 dives). While complaining about it, other people mentioned similar stories. I liked the YS90DX, and am hoping the YS110 will be the perfect replacement, but a high failure rate will be a deal breaker for me. That just sucks when you're on a trip. One guy said his dealer said 'his board had fried', without any indication as to what happened.

There is absolutely no evidence of any water in the system, and definately not in the battery compartment (the rest is normally not user-servicable). I would have opened it, if it werent under warrenty. Sending them back as soon as I get home to have fixed, but I hope this doesnt happen more often. Im really glad I brought 2 spare YS90DX's.

  2. I have been using the YS-110 for the past 6 months...so far so good for me..(touch wood)..:)

Had been occcasion where it doesnt fire, removing the sync cords and putting it back on seem to get it working again..

  3. Hello,

I've been using my two YS-110 for the last 5 months. No problem at all so far... :)

  4. Only problem I've had with my two YS-110s was the Sanyo Rechargeables I used - they went bad fast, now I just use MAHAs.

I've fired the 110s about 1,000 or so times no problems so far and hopefully not in the future.

Hope you get yours sorted and I'll be alert for any sign of problems with mine - but none yet.

    Best, Carol
