Off to Mauritius on 21 October for a wedding plus some snorkelling/diving. Old Sony digicam broken, so have just ordered spanking new Canon G7 and u/w case. Can't wait for it to come - I'll be devastated if it doesn't arrive before we go!
Can anyone offer any experience, especially of Mauritian snorkelling/diving, for someone with no experience of u/w photography and only one "Discover Scuba" dive under their belt?
My wife has treated me + teenage son to a one-day snorkelling course before we go, god bless her cotton socks! I was considering doing "split" PADI course - basics & pool parts taught at home (in UK) and 4 dives whilst in Mauritius to complete course. Has anyone done this? PADI course cost could be difficult to cover for two of us now that I've blown £450 on the G7 & case! But it seems a shame to go all the way from London to Mauritiu and not be able to try a few dives - without having to take the "Discover Scuba" trip another 3 times!
Any tips/ideas gratefully received.
