New member, but frequent guest. I have purchase a Tokina 12-24mm lens mainly for topside travel photos and have found it to be a rather nice lens, so am now considering taking it underwater.
Does anyone currently use this lens underwater? How have you found its performance?
I use an Ikelite system, and note that they recommend both 6 and 8 inch domes for this lens. Which port would be best?
Any advise or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Nigel
Pretty much everyone will say the 8" dome is best, but I think you'll find discussions on this from the past year on this subject:
You will need to use the thinner zoom control ring for this lens.
I haven't been able to take enough images with my setup to recommend the optimal combination of port, diopter, and extension ring. I believe that a lot of folks favour some of the wider zooms, 10-17, 10-20 etc over the 12-24. Maybe others have more information.

I used the Tok 12-24 for a while and found it to be a great lens. I had sold my Nikkor 12-24 and bought the Tok 12-24 instead. I thought sharpness was good and chromatic aberration wasn't too bad. I sold many photos taken w/ that lens.
I used it behind a 9" dome port, and I'd suggest an 8" Ikelite dome.
