D80, Ikelite 8", which WA lense?

  1. Almost finished putting this all together.. (maybe not)

Looking for a good wide angle for Ikelite's 8" dome.

Zoom would be nice, but I can live with a fixed focal.

I'll be using this topside for landscape shots, so I don't want a lense that's too "fishy"

I'm trying to be budget minded, looking at the Sigma 15mm...

    Thanks all!

    Jason

  2. Great choice - it is a nice lens and one that I like to use. Easier to light than the 10.5 Nikon.

If you want to de fish it Google PT lens - a shareware plug in for photoshop.

You might also want to search here - there are a couple of threads running that cover this lens selection.

  3. I have the D80 and Sigma 15mm FE with 6" dome.

As soon as these gales subside I'll try it underwater.

Will post results here next week sometime.

  4. Anyone have experience with the Tokina 12-24mm or the Sigma 10-20mm?

  5. Every time I use it I'm reminded why I like the Sigma 15mm.

Its easier to use, just wide enough without being too wide. Takes rear filters and focuses fast (because it hardly has to focus at all and its f2.8).

This lens is better than Nikon's version 16mm FE because it focuses much closer.

Its also future proof for WHEN full frame comes to the masses.

I have the Nikon 12-24mm as well and I like the Sigma better. I haven't tried the other 2 sigma/tokina lenses.

The 15mm has approx equivelent FOV to the 12mm on a DX sensor.
