5D fisheye and ikelite dome

6 posts
  1. according to ikelite's port chart, with EOS 5D, the 5503 (6"dome) can be used with ef 15/2.8 fisheye but not the sigma 15/2.8 fisheye. Do anyone have any experience in both lens and 5503??

And also I have a sigma 20mm/1.8, but cannot find any info about which port can accommodate it. Do anyone know?? :)

    Thanks a lot!!

  2. 5503 vignetts horibly with the sigma 15mm on the 5D. None of the 6" domes will work with the sigma 15mm. You have to use the 8" dome.

I have not personally used the canon 15mm, but I am pretty sure that 5503 will vignette with the canon as well. For the canon 15mm you should use 5503.15, or the 8" dome.

The sigma 20mm f/1.8 is too fat (3.5") to fit in any ikelite port.

thanks a lot for ur info! But, for the fisheye lens, will it help if the dome shade is removed??

    No.

The above picture was the sigma 15mm fisheye, on canon 5D in Ikelite housing with port 5503 with the shade removed.

  5. Even if it does work still consider the larger dome.

The 6" dome 'works' for the Nikon 10.5 as well BUT that is without a shade and reflections are a real problem.

Many of the reflections are from the where the rim joins the stem, you can remove them in Photoshop but it is tedious work.

think that I'll have better to go for the 8' dome instead......
