sea & sea dx8000

  1. :) i am wondering about these velvro masks that are supposed to block the small flash in the camera.

they are shown applied to the front of the camera housing in the directions i got with my strobes, which are also sea and sea.

my camera is a dx8000 sea & sea...

i guess the masks are designed to prevent backscatter ?????

i have twin strobes, and am wondering if i need to apply this mask to my camera?

    anybody out there know.????

i contacted sea and sea, and they said no, yet , i have directions, that came with my strobes, that show a velcro mask.

my strobes are connected with optic cables that run from my camera housing to both strobes. ladydianab

  2. I have a 5000g with S&S Strobe and I use the velcro to cover the internal flash on the housing to reduce the backscatter. Works well for me

  3. I have a DX 8000G and a pair of YS-25s. There is no need to use the velcro mask as the 8000 has two means of attaching the fibre optic cables to the housing. Firstly there are two ports above the on-board flash which have their own 'prisms'. I found these unreliable. The second (and reliable) option is to attach the twin adaptor which allows the fibre optic cables to pick up the flash directly. I have blanked out the flash port on the housing with black electrical tape, leaving just enough gap for the strobes to sync. Hope this helps.
