Is the camera showing up in the Device Manager?
Also, try going through the Add Hardware Wizard and it should prompt you for the driver location.
Alternately, this is what I do with balky peripherals (especially legacy serial & parallel ones):
Edit the BOOT.INI
Located at C:\BOOT.INI) file in Notepad by copying & pasting a copy of the line with the target, and then remove the /FASTDETECT switch. This forces the kernel to fully enumerate the hardware.
Here is what my BOOT.INI file looks like. (Note that I'm using NT5, a/k/a Windows 2000; but NT5.1, a/k/a Windows XP, is similar.)
[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Server" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Server (full hardware)"
Then, reboot with the camera plugged in and powered up
So, sold my old computer and am now using someone else's for the moment. Tried to capture HDV from the Z1 camera but it won't recognize, only in DV mode does it work... yes, the camera is set up to download HDV not DV
So, am thinking the comp needs a driver for HDV, of course i can't find it on Microsoft or Sony sites or Fujitsu or anwhere else. Using XP and have tried it in Pinnacle, Canopus, and Premiere Pro 2 with no luck....
I don't think its a camera problem so must be a missing driver... anyone know where to find it?
Slow net connection here doesn't help matters either! haha
Cheers
